Join the USABO Collective: A community of biology students exploring, reasoning, and preparing for the 2026 Olympiad.

Through weekly discussions and problem-solving sessions, we approach biology the way scientists do—by connecting concepts, analyzing evidence, and learning from one another.

This open-enrollment program welcomes any high-school student preparing for the USA Biology Olympiad (USABO) or simply eager to explore biology beyond the classroom.

Join the Bio:Logic USABO Study Club — an open-enrollment learning experience for motivated students preparing for the February 2026 USA Biology Olympiad (USABO) Open Exam, designed to teach not just content, but the thinking process of scientists.

Meet Tobi Schmidt, PhD

The Bio:Logic USABO Study Club is led by Dr. Tobi Schmidt, PhD, a Stanford-trained biologist with over 25 years of experience in biology education and research.

Her passion for teaching began early, leading her from undergraduate tutoring to major roles in educational program design and admissions. She has designed and taught courses in the biological sciences for the Stanford School of Medicine, Stanford Pre-Collegiate and Continuing Studies Programs, and the California College of the Arts, where she pioneered interdisciplinary courses that brought art and science together.

In addition to her teaching roles, Dr. Schmidt has mentored countless students toward success in top-tier universities, competitive research opportunities, and STEM careers. She brings deep expertise in supporting twice-exceptional (2e) and neurodivergent learners, helping students with executive-function challenges build confidence and thrive. Known for her adaptive, empathetic approach, she meets each student at their level — guiding them toward independence and mastery in science.

Beyond teaching, Dr. Schmidt has contributed to the biological sciences through research and leadership roles in industry, academia, and nonprofit sectors, demonstrating a commitment to advancing both scientific knowledge and education. Her career is marked by a dedication to inspiring the next generation of scientists and medical professionals — making her a valued educator, advisor, and advocate in the biological sciences.

Through Bio:Logic, Dr. Schmidt brings that same depth of experience to every student — guiding them to think like scientists, build lasting confidence, and achieve at the highest level.
